We created a ‘Magic Mirror’ for Polo Ralph Lauren
Our mirror invited users to take a step onto centre court to try on their next pair of summer sunglasses
Working with Studio of Art & Commerce, we developed and installed a ‘Magic Mirror’ for Polo Ralph Lauren at Heathrow Airport to celebrate the brand’s 17-year collaboration with The Championships, Wimbledon.
Designed to target audiences browsing ahead of catching their flight, when a shopper tries on a pair of the company’s Wimbledon Collection sunglasses in front of the mirror, they don’t just see their reflection, they’re transported to the action at Centre Court.
A QR code is then generated that enables them to download a selfie of themselves at Wimbledon.
A key challenge for this project was to ensure that it was only the client’s special Wimbledon sunglasses that triggered the effect, not just any eyewear. This was achieved using invisible markings which were then detected by a special camera and processed by custom software.
As the project was installed air-side at the airport, security was critical, with each element of the project needing to conform to stringent guidelines, making it essentially bomb proof. It was installed in collaboration with Heathrow’s installation guidelines and requirements.
